How It Works
You choose an image — it stays on your device
When you select a photo, your browser reads it using the
standard File API. To pass your image from the upload step to the result page,
it is stored in your browser's IndexedDB — a storage area built into your browser that is entirely local
to your device. Nothing is transmitted to us.
The watermark is applied entirely in your browser
We use the browser's built-in Canvas API to composite your watermark — text or image — onto your photo at
full resolution. This is the same technology your browser uses to
render games and graphics editors. It runs locally, not on a remote
server.
You download the result directly
The finished image is exported from the canvas and offered as a download — again, entirely within your browser. The data travels from the canvas to your downloads folder. It never passes through our infrastructure.
Our Privacy Promise
Many online tools claim to be private but still route your files through their servers for "processing," logging, or analytics. We have architected Make Your Watermark so that this is technically impossible — there is no backend endpoint, no upload handler, and no storage bucket for your images to reach even if we wanted them to.
Zero server contact
Your images are processed entirely inside your browser. Our servers only serve the website's HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — never your photos.
No accounts, no tracking of your files
We don't ask you to log in and we don't associate any file metadata with you. We use standard analytics (page views, not file contents).
Works offline
Once the page has loaded, you can disconnect from the internet and watermarking will still work. That's proof nothing is being sent remotely.
Your images are never stored or shared
We have no database of user images. We will never share, sell, or use your images for any purpose — because we simply never receive them.
